Nag Ashwin's much-anticipated mythological themed sci-fi action-drama, 'Kalki 2898 AD', starring Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, and Disha Patani, is set to hit theatres on June 27. The film has generated significant buzz, making it one of the most awaited releases of the year. Recently, the Telangana government has approved additional shows and increased ticket prices for the first eight days of its release.

On X (formerly known as Twitter) it was announced that the first show of 'Kalki 2898 AD' will commence at 5:30 am in Telangana on the release day. They also detailed the ticket price hike, stating that for the period from June 27 to July 4, regular theatre tickets will see a hike of Rs. 70, while tickets in multiplexes will increase by Rs. 100. The announcement included a copy of the permit approved by the government.

While the film's fans are eagerly looking forward to its release, the decision to hike ticket prices has been a talking point on social media. One user expressed concern that the increased prices might deter audiences, especially families, from attending. They argued that if the filmmakers believed in the strength of their content, they should have kept ticket prices regular to attract more viewers and reduce the risk of piracy.

Another user pointed out the challenges faced by the Telugu film industry due to early OTT releases, suggesting that high ticket prices could further discourage theatre attendance.

Despite the concerns, the anticipation for 'Kalki 2898 AD' remains high, said to be one of the most expensive films made in the country. Media reports also suggest the movie has already made more than $2.6 million in North America with its pre-booking sales.
