Hollywood actress Charu Shankar to make her television debut

Much has been written about an upcoming show on Empress Mehrunissa, better known as Empress Noor Jehan. The show titled 'Malikaa' is based on Indu Sundaresan’s book — 'The Twentieth Wife' (Mehrunissa was emperor Salim’s 20th wife).
After an intensive hunt for the face that could fit the bill perfectly, the makers have finalised Charu Shankar, who has worked with directors Wes Anderson (The Darjeeling Limited) and Mira Nair (The Reluctant Fundamentalist).
Charu says, “I wanted my transition into Indian television to be with a show that deals with production and scripts as seriously as Hollywood does. This show deals with the story and characters with high-quality production values.”
