Biomanufacturing unlocked.
Über uns
Founded in 2022, Cauldron is a global biomanufacturer on a mission to realize the full potential of precision fermentation by unlocking price parity for mainstream bio-manufactured goods. By solving historical continuous fermentation challenges to establish a scalable, repeatable continuous process, Cauldron aims to solve the gap in commercially viable biomanufacturing capacity. Developed over more than three decades of R&D, Cauldron’s proprietary hyper-fermentation technology drives significant gains in productivity, generating more volume at less cost, using smaller bioreactors. We're operating today at our commercial demo-facility in regional Australia and working with global clients across the precision fermentation industry to de-risk the path to commercialization. Our Co-founder and CEO Michele Stansfield and Head of Operations Saurabh Das joined Executive Director, Emerging Industries Mark Tierney onstage at the Greater Whitsunday Regional Projects Forum to discuss the strategic advantages in Australia - and particularly in the Greater Whitsunday region - that position Australia as a global leader in the bioeconomy. Thank you to the Queensland Government Department of State Development and Infrastructure for hosting this important symposium, and for inviting Cauldron Ferm to share our vision for strengthening Queensland's regional resilience through biomanufacturing. #biotech #bioeconomy #biofutures

💡"Two barriers have historically prevented continuous fermentation from being widely applied: contamination and genetic drift," shares Michele Stansfield, Co-founder & CEO of Australia's Cauldron Ferm who was interviewed for our huge alt dairy feature in the Q3 2024 edition of Protein Production Technology International. Cauldron is addressing these challenges with its proprietary Hyper-Fermentation technology. This innovative process dramatically reduces manufacturing costs, while also offering higher output, lower energy consumption, and a smaller environmental footprint. With its focus on sustainability and affordability, Cauldron is poised to shape the future of bio-products. 📰 Read more from Michele and other alt dairy innovators in the Q3 2024 edition of Protein Production Technology International: https://hubs.ly/Q02NYHd20 #Fermentation #AltDairy #Biotechnology #Sustainability #Innovation

Australia has traditionally been a strong exporter of bulk protein commodities, exporting about 70% of what it produces – like grains, legumes and meat – however there is great opportunity to value-add to many of these products, according to CSIRO. 🔬 Precision fermentation offers significant potential to diversify and bolster Australia's protein production, addressing both domestic and export demands. 🇦🇺 In their newly released whitepaper, “Producing Food Through Precision Fermentation: The Opportunity for Australia," Cellular Agriculture Australia shines a light on Australia's precision fermented ingredient sector, outlines major challenges facing the industry, and provides policy recommendations for the Australian Government . Thanks to Sam Perkins, Jessica Freitag, and the entire CAA team for creating this report and including Cauldron Ferm. It's an essential resource for the industry as we chart our bio-future. How can government support help close the funding gap for first-of-a-kind manufacturing facilities? "There are solutions to be found, and government packages that include debt, rebates, grants and other options like subsidised input costs (energy), leasing of assets, and partial guarantees on offtake may be key to unlocking a more secure food future in APAC. " Check out this must read column on The Good Food Institute APAC blog, by Camilla Roberts of Scale Impact Pty Ltd at the link below ⤵ https://bit.ly/4c7oy24 #biomanufacturing #bioeconomy #goodfoodinstitute

Australian fermentation startup Cauldron has received on AUD4.3 million ($2.8 million) from Australia's Department of Industry, Science and Resources Industry Growth Program (IGP) to help them scale their manufacturing platform that enables the production of high-value ingredients via precision fermentation. Get the details: https://bit.ly/3YT8YnH "Cauldron [...] believes a continuous (rather than a batch) ‘hyper’ fermentation process will be key to unlocking the commercial viability of microbial fermentation for a host of ingredients that have historically been sourced from animals or petrochemicals." Innovations like this are poised to drive production costs down, which is crucial if alternative protein products are to be priced competitively with their conventional counterparts. So great to see Australia putting public funds towards this potentially transformative technology!

The bigger the dream, the more important the team. At Cauldron Ferm, we're proud to dream big to redefine the scope of biomanufacturing. Fortunately, we've got the team, experience, and leadership in place to realise that ambition. 💚 thanks to our co-founder and CEO Michele Stansfield for sharing this recognition of the team members making magic happen every day at our demo facility in Orange, NSW. #startup #teamwork #biomanufacturing #biotech
Teamwork makes the dream work! This is what success looks like running 10,000-liter continuous fermentation campaigns with the best team out there. I’ve had the privilege of working with team members like Ross Lidster for over a decade (dating back to the Agritechnology Pty Ltd days!), while others like Angie Caffin joined us with the start of the Cauldron Ferm next chapter. It can be hard sometimes to pause and take time to reflect on our day-to-day triumphs when there’s so much going on. That’s startup life running at hyper-speed. But moments like these – moments of pure joy and team pride – remind me just how far we’ve come and just how limitless our potential truly is. Grateful every day to be on this journey with this team.
