Forget Espresso... It's officially a Brat Summer 💚 It-girl Charli XCX's latest album has everyone in a chokehold right now... Songs like 'Apple', '365' and 'Girl, So Confusing' are all over TikTok, she's inspired a new Gen Z #Brat aesthetic, and even Vogue declares that the UK artist has successfully "captured the zeitgeist". So why has it had such cultural impact, even creating its own #BratSummer movement? 🍏 The post-pandemic years have been all about staying in, prioritising health and routine, and the "beige influence" aesthetic. With trends like Brat Summer and #RatGirlEra, we're seeing a swing back to Gen Z wanting to embrace imperfection and a bit of rebelliousness. 🎵 The album honestly explores themes that many young women are wrestling with right now, from womanhood and female friendship, to the mix of emotions that come with growing up. It couldn't be better displayed by the pairing of "I Think About It All The Time" which details Charli's decision on whether to have a baby or focus on her career, followed by "365", a track that boasts about going out partying 365 days of the year. 💚 Charli's use of slime-green throughout the campaign has helped it stand out and even created a 17% increase in searches for "slime green" items on Lyst. 📸 The music video for lead single 360 featured internet personalities and influencers like Emma Chamberlain and Julia Fox. It's tongue-in-cheek as they discuss how to find the next big 'It-Girl'! 🕶 Charli's song "Girl, So Confusing" was rumoured to be about singer Lorde, with the two artists often being compared in the media.
