Stormwater

Our Michigan waterways are important to protect! They provide transit for goods, an environment for fish and aquatic life, and recreation for people of all ages. That is why the city of Ecorse is interested in the preservation and protection of water quality.

Tips for Residents

Government Best Practices

Mdot Logo - Michigan Department Of Transportation - Free ...  The protection of our natural resources falls on everyone to cooperate, which is why the Michigan Department of Transportation   (MDOT) has created a Stormwater Management Plan (SMP) to standardize the process in which they handle      stormwater.    These practices make reducing stormwater pollution simpler and easier for MDOT and contractors under them.

Alliance of Downriver Watersheds

The Alliance of Downriver Watersheds is an organization formed in 2007 to protect the water resources in the Downriver region from pollution. Ecorse is a member of the ADW and adheres to guidelines according to the MS4 Compliance Program. MS4 stands for Municipal Separate Stormwater Sewer System, and refers to any drainage system such as catch basins or ditches that allow surface water to reach our rivers. This system allows for standards to be set on the level of pollutants released into a waterway. Their website can be found here.
