Who is Alamo?

Global brand Alamo is more popular outside of Europe. Half of our respondents used it in its home turf, the USA, but it also has branches in a host of other worldwide destinations.

Which? verdict

Alamo is a good option for rental, particularly in the USA and Canada, but also worldwide.

What’s Alamo like?

Alamo and sister company Enterprise came in joint fourth place in this year’s survey with little to separate them, except price. Despite the £50-a-day pricing, Alamo is the only major firm in our survey with a four-star value for money.

Readers raved about the speed of pick-up and drop-off – ‘we were in and out in five minutes’, said one. If you check in online (in some locations), you don’t even have to go to the desk. Simply choose a vehicle from your category in the garage. Anyone who’s sweated at the back of a 45-minute rental desk queue will certainly see the appeal.

Readers were also impressed with the age, condition and mileage of Alamo’s vehicles, but the three-star ‘customer service’ and ‘clarity of extra charges’ ratings show there’s room for improvement.

Should I book with Alamo?

Alamo’s wide choice of vehicles makes it a good choice for your next American adventure and worth looking for elsewhere for a hassle-free and good-value experience.
