What’s Centauro like?

Independent brand Centauro, was one of just four car hire companies to get a four-star (or above) value-for-money rating, as well as an excellent customer score of 83%.

Having to locate a shuttle bus can be a hassle, but many of you told us the process was easy, praising the ‘speedy collection and drop-off’. And readers were happy with the five-star condition of its vehicles (Centauro renews its fleet every seven months).

If you book direct with Centauro, you're only offered its premium zero excess product, which means you don’t need to worry about any dents or scratches nor do you need to leave a deposit. However several readers told us that they saved money by booking a Centauro car via Which? Recommended Provider Zest Car Rental. The broker has a long-standing relationship with Centauro and offers its standard product (with an excess). If you do this, you’ll need to make sure you have a good Excess Reimbursement Insurance policy. 

The only niggle for some was the demand for an upfront petrol payment (refunded if you return the car with the same amount of fuel).
