Best iPad and tablet deals

Looking for a great deal on an iPad, or a tablet from one of Apple's rivals? Our experts track deals throughout the year, so we know a good iPad or tablet deal when we see one – and we also know when to ignore the marketing hype.

We check tablet sale prices on entry-level and mid-range models, as well as high-end, big-screen tablets that can replace a laptop.

Like all tech products, tablets are constantly being updated. This means there are plenty of deals on last-generation iPads and tablets, as well as the occasional discount on the latest models. Here, we list the best genuine tablet deals available right now.

Our experts reveal the best tablets, based on our tough lab tests, so you can see which ones are worth your money. If you know you definitely want an Apple iPad, check out our guide on the best iPads to find the right model for your needs

Best iPad and tablet deals for 2024

We check top retailers to find the best deals on tablets and iPads. We only include offers on tablets that do well in our lab tests, so if a tablet doesn't meet a decent standard of quality, then you won't find it on this list – even if it's been heavily reduced.

It's rare to see a current iPad with a discount, but we managed to find good deals on the 2022 iPad, as well as the Mini. The iPad Air and iPad Pros were updated earlier this year in May, so it's a good time to shop for discounts on the older 2022 models, and we've found some great deals.

Best iPad deals

Apple iPad Air 2022

Apple iPad Air 2022
  • 10.9-inch screen
  • M1 processor and 8GB of Ram
  • 2,360 x 1,640-pixel display

We like: Fast and powerful

We don’t like: Awkward power-off function

A new 2024 Apple iPad Air has been launched, which means this 2022 version has got cheaper.

It has a 2,360 x 1,640 sharper-than-HD Liquid Retina display and is available with different memory options: 64GB, 256GB or 5G. It also has a powerful M1 processor.

There are some issues with ease of use and it's surprisingly bulky. It may be called the iPad Air, but at almost half a kilogram, it's hardly feather-light.

Apple iPad 2022 64GB wi-fi

Apple iPad 2022 showing the two bottom speaker grilles and power button. The screen shows four rows of apps
  • 10.9-inch screen
  • A14 processor and 4GB of Ram
  • 2,360 x 1,640-pixel display

We like: Great screen

We don’t like: Bass can get lost

This 2022 version of the iPad has a 10.9-inch, 1,640 x 2,360-pixel display screen – which is better than HD. The version we tested has a 64GB hard drive, but there’s a 256GB model available too. You can’t expand the memory in any way, so make sure you buy one that’s got enough for your needs.

The iPad has 4GB of Ram and the A14 Bionic Chip – this is the same chip that powers the iPhone 12 range. But how did it measure up against the opposition in our lab tests?

Read our expert Apple iPad 2022 64GB wi-fi review for the full picture.

Apple iPad Mini

Apple iPad Mini (2021) being held in someones hand
  • 8-inch screen
  • A15 processor and 4GB of Ram
  • 2,266 x 1,488-pixel display

We like: Slick and swift operation

We don’t like: More reflections than we’d like on the screen

This 8-inch iPad from Apple was released in 2021. It's powerful and can handle demanding graphics and apps.

The version we tested has 64GB of storage. That’s a reasonable amount of space, but you need to be sure it will be enough before you buy, as there's no micro-SD slot to increase the memory. There's a 256GB version, too.

Read our full iPad Mini (2021) review to see how it did in our independent lab tests.

Best Samsung Galaxy tab deals

Samsung is the most popular Android tablet manufacturer. It makes tablets that can compete with high-end iPads, but also has cheaper options for people who don't need anything too powerful.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S9+

Samsung Galaxy Tab S9+
  • 12.4-inch screen
  • USB-C charging
  • Runs the Android operating system

We like: Superb camera

We don't like: Not the most portable

The Samsung S9+ screen has a resolution of 1,848 x 2,960, making its 2K far sharper than HD.

Its high-end Snapdragon processor is extremely fast. It also has 12GB of Ram and a 256GB hard drive.

With its 12.6-inch screen, it’s one of the bigger tablets around, so it may not be comfortable to hold for long periods. It’s probably better sat on a desk or paired with a keyboard to create a laptop.

Samsung Galaxy Tab A9+ 64GB

Samsung Galaxy Tab A9+ 64GB
  • 11-inch screen
  • USB-C charging
  • Runs the Android operating system

We like: Easy to use

We don't like: Poor cameras, based on our lab tests

This 11-inch tablet has a screen resolution of 1,200 x 1,920 pixels – so it’s around Full HD. The processor has eight cores and is supported by 4GB of Ram, which is about what we’d expect from a tablet at this price.

The eight cores are designed for multitasking and to improve efficiency, as the tablet won’t use the more powerful, battery-intensive cores for simple processes.

Find out if it's the right model for you – read our expert Samsung Galaxy Tab A9+ 64GB review

Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 2021

  • 10.5-inch screen
  • USB-C charging
  • Runs the Android operating system

We like: Responsive touchscreen

We don't like: Not much battery after a quick 30-minute charge

The A8 is from the lower end of Samsung's range, but the 1,200 x 1,920-pixel display should make it an ideal choice for Full HD videos on Netflix and YouTube (although it won't be able to show the improvements in 4K content).

It has a small 32GB hard drive that you can expand if you add a micro-SD card. A quick charge of 30 minutes will give you just over 1 hour 15 minutes of battery life.

Find out if it's the right tablet for you – see our expert Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 review.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra

Samsung Galaxy S9 Ultra in black showing the homescreen with app icons and the stylus below
  • 14.6-inch screen
  • USB-C charging
  • Runs the Android operating system

We like: Includes an S Pen for drawing and writing

We don't like: Requires a keyboard to make the most of it

It’s Samsung’s biggest ever tablet, and one of the largest we’ve tested. The 14.6-inch display is almost 2 inches bigger than the iPad Pro and Microsoft Surface Pro X. The resolution is 2,960 x 1,484 pixels, so it’s far sharper than HD.

It's packed with enough processing power to rival a high-end laptop and has 12GB of Ram – 50% more than many rival models. The model we tested has a 256GB hard drive, but it's the larger 512GB model that's getting the best reductions at the moment.

Best Android tablet deals

Aside from Samsung, Chinese brands are making most Android tablets. Honor, Lenovo and Xiaomi are popular, offering several high-spec tablets for less than you'd expect.

Nokia T10

Nokia T10
  • 8-inch screen
  • 3GB of Ram
  • 32GB of storage

We like: Almost 19 hours of battery life

We didn't like: Drab screen

This 8-inch tablet from Nokia has a 1.6GHz processor, supported by 3GB of Ram. This may look a bit puny on paper, but in practice it has plenty of power.

The display is slightly better than HD Ready, which means it won’t make the most of 4K content, but should be fine for standard definition and HD. Although 32GB isn’t especially generous for a modern tablet, you can add a micro-SD card.

It's a good alternative to the Amazon Fire HD 8, even if it's generally a little pricier.

Read our Nokia T10 review to see if it's worth your money.

Currently on sale for £114 from Amazon.

Lenovo Tab M9

Lenovo Tab M9 in black
  • 8.9-inch screen
  • 3GB of Ram
  • 32GB of storage

We like: Runs quickly

We didn't like: Hard drive is too small so you'll need to buy a micro-SD card

There's strong competition at the entry-level end of the tablet market, including solid options from Amazon and Samsung. This means tablets such as this M9 need to be good to stand out.

It doesn't have the best specs on paper, but that doesn't always tell the whole story – which is why we leave no stone unturned when testing every tablet.

Read our Lenovo Tab M9 review to see if it's worth your money.

Lenovo Tab M11

Lenovo Tab M11
  • 11-inch screen
  • 4GB of Ram
  • 128GB of storage

We like: Brilliant battery life

We didn't like: Struggles with demanding apps

If the Lenovo Tab M9 doesn't have quite enough oomph for you, you could try the M11 instead – not least for its larger 128GB hard drive. It also has a Full HD screen and a Helio G88 processor, which is backed up by 4GB of Ram.

This tablet charges via a USB-C cable, which is supplied. You don’t get a plug, but Lenovo does include a stylus in the box.

Best Microsoft tablet deals

Microsoft's tablets are designed to be laptop replacements. As a result, they're often expensive and high-end.

Microsoft Surface Pro 9

Microsoft Surface Pro 9 showing the Windows homescreen with a blue swirling background
  • 13-inch screen
  • 8GB of Ram
  • 256GB of storage

We like: Intuitive operating system

We don't like: Needs a keyboard to make the most of it

Microsoft sells this model as a 2-in-1 device with the power of a laptop and versatility of a tablet. It has a 13-inch 1,920 x 2,880-pixel screen, which puts it at the bigger end of the scale.

The model we tested has a Core i5-1235U processor backed up by 8GB of Ram; there are also 16GB and 32GB versions.

Read our full Microsoft Surface Pro 9 review to see if it's what you need.

Best Amazon tablet deals

Amazon makes some of the cheapest tablets around: some cost as little as £50 (or less during sales). There are also beefier ones with higher-resolution screens, such as the Fire HD and Fire Max 11, but they still tend to cost less than Apple and Samsung tablets.

Amazon Fire 7

Amazon Fire 7 16GB (2022)
  • 7-inch tablet
  • 600 x 1,024-pixel resolution
  • 2GB of Ram

We like: Low price for a tablet

We don’t like: Speakers and cameras aren’t the best we’ve seen in our tests

The Amazon Fire 7 is slightly less advanced than other Fire tablets, but it still has its perks. It’s easy to use for basic tasks, the buttons are well placed and it's light.

This version has 16GB storage. It runs Fire OS, Amazon's own operating system, and is intuitive to use if you've handled a tablet or phone before.

How to spot a good deal on an iPad or tablet

Martin Pratt, Which? TV expert

Martin Pratt, Which? tablets expert, says:

  • iPads are rarely on offer, so any discount you spot is likely to be a good one. To double-check, the Apple store will show the iPad at the standard retail price, so you can see if the deal is worthwhile.
  • Look out for 'deals' that are actually adding a load of extra stuff you may not need, such as app subscriptions, styluses and cases. Odds are, if it's a 'starter pack offer' aiming to keep the price as close to the RRP as possible, another retailer will have it with a true discount without all those unnecessary extras.
  • Don't worry about buying an older tablet. Models released in 2022 or 2023 are still worth a look, but check our tablet software update policy page to make sure you'll still get plenty of updates in years to come.

Where’s the best place to buy a tablet?

We've selected good deals on decent tablets that are currently on offer. If none of these are quite right for you, don't worry – there will be ample opportunity to find a great tablet deal.

Finding an iPad deal

The Apple website provides a good baseline of how much an iPad costs, because Apple never discounts new models there. Knowing the true full price will make it easier to work out if you're getting a decent discount on other sites. Click to go to the Apple iPad website.

When shopping around for deals and looking at sale prices, be aware that there are multiple generations of iPads on sale at the same time, so make sure you know which one you're buying. Our best iPads guide will help you out.

There’s nothing wrong with buying an older-generation iPad – in fact, it’s a great way to save money. But make sure you’re comparing like with like, rather than a newer, more expensive model with an older, cheaper one.

Refurbished models

Another way to keep costs down is to consider a refurbished tablet. Apple never has deals on new tablets, but there's a section on its official site for refurbished iPads that come with a one-year warranty. What’s available varies from one model to the next, but you should be able to save at least 20% on a refurbished tablet over a new one.

Find out more about how you can save, plus what to watch out for, when buying a refurbished iPad.

Student tablet deals

If you’re a student, you might qualify for an Apple student discount, which will get you money off iPads and other Apple products.

Finding a Microsoft Surface tablet deal

It’s sensible to start your search for a Surface tablet on the Microsoft Store website

This is the place to find the true price of the model and specification you’re after – and you might even find a discount while you’re there. It might be a simple discount on a specification, or it could be a discounted or free accessory when you buy a tablet at the full price.

If that doesn't work, it’s highly likely you’ll find a discount from various retailers. Make sure you check all the specifications and colour options, as discounts might only be on one or two of these at any one time.

Finding an Amazon Fire tablet deal

Amazon Fire tablets are well priced to start with, but deals do come along fairly regularly. You'll often find the best prices on the Amazon Fire site, and you can sometimes find decent discounts at Argos and Currys, among others.

If there's nothing available on the day you search, you probably won't have to wait long for a discount to materialise. So if you don’t need to buy right now, it could pay to wait until a deal comes up.

Tablets and security support

Before you buy, bear in mind that not all manufacturers are equal when it comes to security updates. We've found that some only support their tablets for two to three years.

Our free, quick tablet security tool allows you to check how long a tablet will continue to receive security updates. It also provides important advice on how to stay safe when using your tablet.
