Gaines (Democratic Party) is running for re-election to the Iowa House of Representatives to represent District 33. She is on the ballot in the general election on November 5, 2024. She advanced from the Democratic primary on June 4, 2024.
Biography
Ruth Ann Gaines was born in Des Moines, Iowa.[1] Gaines earned a bachelor's degree in drama and speech from Clarke University in 1969 and a master's degree in dramatic arts from the University of California at Santa Barbara in 1970. Her career experience includes working as a professor with Des Moines Area Community College, an instructor with Heartland AEA, and a drama teacher with East High School. Gaines has served on the advisory board of the Pyramid Theatre Company, the State Foster Care Review Board, and the Loras College Board of Regents.[1][2]
