Actress Adah Sharma-starrer 'The Kerala Story' is currently enjoying a sweet spot at the Indian box-office. Despite new releases and tough competition, the movie's performance hasn't slowed down.

Movie trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh took to social media to share the fourth-weekend numbers on Twitter.

In his post, he said that 'The Kerala Story' managed to triumph over the new releases and has kept the audience interested in the fourth weekend since its release on May 5.

His tweet read, "While new releases arrived and sank without a trace, 'The Kerala Story' is the only Hindi film that continues to attract substantial footfalls, even on Weekend 4… [Week 4]"

While the movie collected Rs 2.50 crore on Friday (May 26), it made Rs 4.25 crore on Saturday (May 27) and Rs 4.75 crore on Sunday (May 28).

The movie, which crossed the Rs 200 crore-mark on Monday (May 22), currently stands at 224.97 crore (nett) in the domestic market.

Directed by Sudipto Sen, the movie joined the likes of post-Pandemic Hindi blockbusters like 'The Kashmir Files', 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2', 'Drishyam 2' and 'Pathaan'. Besides Sharma, 'The Kerala Story' stars Yogita Bihani, Siddhi Idnani and Sonia Balani in pivotal roles.

Produced by Vipul Shah, 'The Kerala Story' depicts how women from the coastal state were forced to convert and recruited by the terror group Islamic State (IS).

'The Kerala Story' has been facing criticism from political parties because of its controversial storyline. The makers and cast of the movie also meet Union Minister of Road Transport & Highways Nitin Gadkari last week in Mumbai.

Last week, 'The Kerala Story' was also screened in only one theatre in West Bengal and evoked a good response from the audience, according to the Eastern India Motion Picture Association (EIMPA). On May 8, the Mamata Banerjee administration imposed a ban on the movie, citing fears that it could fan communal passions.

The Supreme Court stayed the ban imposed by the West Bengal government on the film 'The Kerala Story' on May 18.

The movie's director Sudipto Sen, in a press conference in Kolkata on May 19, had claimed that many hall owners have informed him that they were threatened and asked not to screen the film. He had said that the movie will certainly be released on OTT platforms later, but it was "meant for viewing on the large screen."
