    BJP makes T Jayaprakash Reddy party candidate from Medak seat in Telangana

    Thoorpu Jayaprakash Reddy, a former Congress MLA who had recently joined BJP, was made party candidate from Medak constituency in Telangana.

    NEW DELHI/HYDERABAD:Thoorpu Jayaprakash Reddy, a former Congress MLA who had recently joined BJP, was today made the party candidate from Medak Parliamentary constituency in Telangana following which he filed his nomination papers.

    Reddy was accompanied by senior BJP leaders of the state, including the BJP's Telanagana unit president G Kishan Reddy, when he filed his papers in Sangareddy.

    BJP's Central Election Committee this morning cleared his name as the party candidate for the seat which was vacated by TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao. The by-election will be held on September 13 and today is the last date for filing of nominations.

    Reddy is a former Congress MLA from Sangareddi constituency in Medak district and was the party's whip in the previous Andhra Pradesh Assembly. He had joined RSS at a young age and was also associated with ABVP, the students wing of BJP and then BJP before he quit the party.

    Popularly called as Jagga Reddy by his supporters, he was elected to the Andhra Pradesh Assembly for the first time in 2004 on a TRS ticket. He later quit TRS over differences with its chief and joined Congress.

    BJP also nominated Digamber Singh as the party candidate from Surajgarh Assembly constituency in Rajasthan, bypoll for which will also be held on September 13.
