    Centre likely to invest Rs 1,000 cr for new IIM's construction in Assam, says CM Himanta Biswa Sarma

    Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that the Centre is set to invest Rs. 1,000 Crore for the construction of a new Indian Institute of Management (IIM) in Assam. The proposed site for the IIM is located in the Marabhita and Dighalkuchi localities in Kamrup district, marking the second IIM in the Northeastern region after IIM Shillong in Meghalaya.

    IIM Guwahati to soon be a reality, to be mentored by IIM Ahmedabad

    Guwahati: Assam will soon get an Indian Institute of Management (IIM) with IIM Ahmedabad mentoring the new IIM in Guwahati. Assam's Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who previously advocated for this, announced the approval and highlighted the collaboration of premier institutes in transforming Assam into an educational hub.

    The chief minister said that there will be rehabilitation of the ULFA cadres. Over 10000 people and security forces were killed during the ULFA movement. ULFA will be disbanded, camps will be disbanded and weapons deposited, 726 cadres will be rehabilitated. Nine families of those ULFA cadres who were missing or died in Bhutan will be rehabilitated with government jobs.”

    First G20 SFWG Summit concludes in Guwahati

    ​The 1st SFWG meeting was attended in person by 95 delegates from G20 member countries, 10 invitee countries and 14 international organisations like IMF, NGFS, World Bank, UNDP, UNEP Fi, ADB, NDB, FSB among others. Many other international organisations joined the meeting virtually.

    Assam government launches first drone school of northeast

    The drone school was inaugurated by Assam's Information Technology Minister Keshab Mahanta on Tuesday. "Youths, after getting training from experts, can work anywhere in the country and in any sector," he said. The school will have trainers certified by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for conducting the pilot licence training program.
