He mentioned that permanent commission is being granted to women officers in various arms and services of the Army. The Indian Air Force's experimental scheme to induct women officers in all combat roles, initiated in 2015, was regularized in 2022 into a permanent one. The move reflects efforts to increase women's participation and roles in the armed forces.

A top Naval officer has stated that no country's warships or vessels can pass through the Indian Ocean without being detected by the Indian Navy's P-8I anti-submarine and surveillance planes. The officer emphasized that there is always at least one P-8I aircraft airborne to monitor the Indian Ocean and the Bay of Bengal.

Indian Predator drones help Navy keep a close watch over Indian Ocean Region
The Indian Navy has utilized Predator drones to conduct over 13,000 hours of missions in the Indian Ocean Region. The drones, leased from American firm General Atomics, have the capability to cover the entire region in one go, with a range of 4,000-8,000 km and a flight time of over 30 hours. The Navy plans to acquire 15 more advanced drones equipped with weapons and detection kits under a tri-services deal with the US. The drones have been effective in monitoring the movement of Chinese warships and vessels in Indian areas of interest.
