Sudden spell of heavy rain hits western corridor of city

The western corridor of the city on Wednesday witnessed a sudden spell of heavy rains, after a day of high heat levels. Khajaguda recorded 13 mm of rainfall, followed by Madhapur with 7.3mm rainfall in a short intense spell of rains, after which rain bands moved towards Uppal, bringing in 3 mm rainfall at Moula Ali.

HYDERABAD: The western corridor of the city on Wednesday witnessed a sudden spell of heavy rains, after a day of high heat levels. Khajaguda recorded 13 mm of rainfall, followed by Madhapur with 7.3mm rainfall in a short intense spell of rains, after which rain bands moved towards Uppal, bringing in 3 mm rainfall at Moula Ali.
The intense heat levels in western corridor led to the sudden rain across the city, resulting in Patancheru, Shaikpet and BHEL recording the highest heat levels at 40.2 degree Celsius.
Overall, in the state, Suryapet recorded the highest temperature at 44.4 degree Celsius, followed by Nalgonda and Pedapally recording 44.3 and 43.8 degree Celsius respectively. Areas like Bhadrachalam and Hanamkonda saw a nine degree rise in their maximum temperatures recorded on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for thunderstorms on Friday in east and south east Telangana, after which high heat levels are predicted.
