Man beheads villager, walks with severed head in JSR village

JAMSHEDPUR: A man was arrested for decapitating a fellow villager and walking around with the severed head on Sunday. The culprit, Mithun Mahato, in his late forties, allegedly used a sharp weapon to kill 60-year-old Nitai Mahato, a vegetable vendor, for allegedly not contributing money for consuming liquor in the past few days.
The event occurred at Kudalang village, located on the outskirts of the city under the jurisdiction of MGM police station on Sunday.
After beheading Mahao, Mithun walked through the streets with the severed head. When Mithun reached his home with the head, his family members were horrified but managed to overpower him, tied him up with a rope and alerted the police.
MGM police station in-charge, Ram Babu Mandal, said, “The accused has said that Nitai was not contributing money for consuming liquor for the last few days, hence he was angry with him.”
