We’re on a mission to unlock more productive and sustainable farming.

About us

We’re on a mission to unlock more productive and sustainable agriculture. Farmers are using Halter to break free from the time-intensive constraints of conventional farming. They’re growing more grass, increasing milk production and improving the health and well-being of their cows. We bridge deep tech into real-world farming by enabling farmers to remotely shift, virtually fence and proactively monitor their cows’ health and behaviour. We’re backed to deliver on a mission that matters by Tier 1 investors including DCVC, Blackbird, Promus Ventures, Rocket Lab’s Peter Beck and Icehouse ventures. Halter's headquarters are in Auckland, New Zealand.

We’re lucky to partner with hundreds of the best pasture farmers in New Zealand—farmers who are forward-thinking innovators and embrace a new way of farming to manage their operations 🐮 This year at National Fieldays, we went on a hunt to find and empower three of the country’s best farmers… by giving them Halter free for a year. We got HUNDREDS of incredible applications from dairy and beef farmers all over the country. After weeks of deliberating (it was a very tough decision), today we’re stoked to announce our three deserving winners: - Fiona & Jon Sherlock - Sheep and beef farmers from Waingaro, Waikato - Cameron & Lizzy Te Brake - Dairy farmers from Arohena, Waikato - Bronya & Shane Wainwright - Dairy farmers from Rangitata, South Canterbury We’re really excited for these families to kick-start their Halter journey. We chose them because of the potential they see for their farms and their passion for how they want to use Halter's technology to unlock those gains. Over the next 12 months, we’ll be sharing stories of how they’re using Halter to grow and harvest more grass, level up their reproduction outcomes and have full oversight of their animals. Stay tuned 👀

Say hi to Danielle Findlay, our newest Strategy and Operations lead! Dani has had an interesting pathway into Halter. She used to work at PwC as Halter's employment lawyer but she wanted to step into the start-up world! Dani will be partnering with senior leaders to address core priorities across the business and working on special projects as we scale globally! 👏 We asked Dani a couple of questions to get to know her a bit better.... What do you like to do outside of work? ➡ "Catching up with friends & family, reading, cooking, and being active" 🫕📚❤️ What energises you at work? ➡ "Working with awesome people, doing impactful work & getting stuff done" 🏆 If you could relive 1 year of your life, which year would it be and why? ➡ "This last year - spending five months backpacking around South & Central America is hard to beat!" 🌎 A big welcome to the team, Dani! We're happy that you love the start-up scene! ❤️💯 #halter #newstarter
