Customer score is based on a combination of overall satisfaction and how likely people are to recommend the company.
While Hertz isn't necessarily the best in our survey, its 71% customer score definitely suggests it's a decent all-round provider.
A common theme from customers was just how ‘simple’ and ‘easy’ the car hire process was with Hertz. One pleased customer told us ‘I got all the information I need in a clear and precise format’’. Hertz scored four stars out of five for both the clarity of fuel policy and final hire costs.
But when it comes to customer service, Hertz was a mixed bag, scoring a mediocre three stars. While one customer complained of ‘not good’ service when following ‘dreadful’ directions to their pick-up point, others were more than happy with what they described as ‘excellent’ assistance.
It’s this inconsistency that cost Hertz a higher place in our table. We were told by a Hertz No.1 club member of 40 years that they usually find the firm very good, but that their last car hire with it was ‘a disaster’.
