    Arhar, other pulses climb Rs 500 on tight supply

    In the national capital, Arhar and its dal dara variety shot up by Rs 500 and Rs 300 to Rs 9,500 and Rs 12,400-14,100 per quintal, respectively.

    NEW DELHI: The wholesale pulses market ended on a firm note today with prices of arhar and other pulses prices surging by up to Rs 500 per quintal on persistent buying by stockists against restricted supplies from growing regions.

    Marketmen said strong buying by stockists, driven by rising demand from retailers against paucity of stocks on restricted supplies from producing regions mainly pushed up arhar and other pulses prices.

    Hoarding of stocks by speculators too supported the upside in select pulses prices, they said.

    In the national capital, Arhar and its dal dara variety shot up by Rs 500 and Rs 300 to Rs 9,500 and Rs 12,400-14,100 per quintal, respectively.

    Urad and its dal chilka local strengthened by Rs 200 each to Rs 10,500-12,800 and Rs 11,300-11,500 per quintal, respectively. Its dal best quality and dhoya followed suit and enquired higher by a similar margin to Rs 11,400-12,000 and Rs 11,800-12,200 per quintal, respectively.

    Moong and its dal chilka local moved up by Rs 100 each to Rs 7,300-7,850 and Rs 7,700-8,100 per quintal. Its dal dhoya local and best quality traded higher by the same margin to Rs 8,100-8,600 and Rs 8,600-8,800 per quintal.

    Masoor small and bold rose by Rs 200 each to Rs 5,800-6,200 and Rs 5,950-6,250 per quintal. Its dal local and best quality went up by a similar margin to Rs 6,650-7,150 and Rs 6,750-7,250 per quintal.

    Malka local and best quality shot up by Rs 300 each to Rs 7,100-7,400 and Rs 7,200-7,400 per quintal.

    In line with overall trend, gram, gramdal local and best quality were up by Rs 100 each to Rs 5,150-5,700, Rs 5,420-5,720 and Rs 5,840-5,950 per quintal, respectively. Besign Shaktibhog and Rajdhani quoted higher at Rs 2,400 each instead of Rs 2,270 per 35 kg bag, respectively.

    Masoor small Rs 5,800-6200, bold Rs 5,950-6,250, Dal Masoor local Rs 6,650-7,150, best quality Rs 6,750-7,250, Malka local Rs 7,100-7,400, best Rs 7,100-7,400, Moth Rs 5,700-6,100, Arhar Rs 9,500, Dal Arhar Dara Rs 12,400-14,100.

    Gram Rs 5,150-5,700, Gram dal (local) Rs 5,420-5,720, best quality Rs 5,840-5,950, Besan (35 kg), Shakti Bhog Rs 2,400, Rajdhani Rs 2,400, Rajma Chitra Rs 5,550-6,850, Kabuli Gram small Rs 6,900-8,700, Dabra Rs 2,700-2,800, Imported Rs 4,700-5,100, Lobia Rs 5,100-5,300, Peas white Rs 3,170-3,195 and green Rs 3,400-3,500.
