    F&O Ban List: Biocon, Vodafone under trade ban on Thursday

    Synopsis

    F&O trade ban on Thursday with OI limits. Biocon and Vodafone Idea were affected. Index traders avoid security bans. Biocon at MWPL 97.5% and OI 60.5M. Vodafone Idea at MWPL 103.1% and OI 3.6B.

    Vodafone Idea and Biocon are under F&O trade ban on Thursday. The future & options contracts of any stock enter the ban period when the open interest (OI) on it crosses 95% of the market wide positions limits or MWPL. The ban on it is reversed only if the open interest falls below 80%.

    The markets were closed on Wednesday on account of Maharashtra Day.

    Traders who trade in index do not encounter a situation of security ban.

    For Biocon, the MWPL stood at 97.5% on Tuesday with OI reported by Trendlyne at 60.5 million. It was down 2% from the previous session.

    The stock ended at Rs 298 on the NSE, down by Rs 8.15 or 2.66%. The stock is trading above its 50-day and 200-day simple moving averages (SMA) and the stock is currently trading in the overbought zone. The day's RSI and MFI stood at 64 and 84 according to Trendlyne data.

    The MWPL for Vodafone Idea stood at 103.1% on Tuesday with OI reported by Trendlyne at 3.6 billion. It was down 0.9% from the previous session.

    Vi shares ended at Rs 13.20 on the NSE, declining by Rs 0.25 or 1.86%. The stock is trading below its 50-day SMA while above 200-day SMA. The stock is trading near an overbought zone and its MFI is 69 according to Trendlyne. A number above 70 is considered as overbought while below 30 is seen as oversold.

    Indian benchmark indices ended in the red on Tuesday amid selling action across sectors with IT, metals and pharma stocks. The S&P BSE Sensex ended the session at 74,482.78, up by 188.50 points or 0.25%. The broader Nifty settled at 22,604.85, lower by 38.55 points or 0.17%.
