The short-term trend of Nifty continues to be positive amid high volatility. Having moved above the hurdle of 22,250 level (mid-part of Tuesday's long bear candle) recently, Nifty could move towards the next upper hurdle of 23,200 (upper part of long bear candle) in the near term. Immediate support is at 22,640 level, said Nagaraj Shetti of HDFC Securities.

Rupee falls 5 paise to 83.49 against US dollar
The rupee depreciated by 5 paise to settle at 83.49 (provisional) against the US dollar on Thursday, influenced by foreign capital outflows and rising crude oil prices overseas. Forex traders noted that a weak American currency and a firm trend in equity markets provided some support to the rupee.
"The benchmark indices maintained their positive momentum, as the new coalition is about to swear in, which is predicted to be a stable government. However, anxiety persists over the new cabinet being put in place and policy measures expected to be announced in the coming budget. Meanwhile, the market is awaiting fresh signals from the RBI's comments on liquidity."
