Market Now: Telecom stocks up; Bharti Airtel, Tata Communications among gainers

NEW DELHI: Telecom stocks Aksh Optifibre (up 4.93 per cent), Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) (up 3.50 per cent), Tejas Networks (up 3.17 per cent) and Bharti Infratel (up 1.85 per cent) were trading up in morning trade on Thursday, keeping the BSE Telecom index up.

The S&P BSE Telecom index was trading 0.75 per cent up at 1,580 around 10:25 am (IST).

Shares of Himachal Futuristic Communications (up 1.67 per cent), GTL (up 1.02 per cent), Mahanagar Telephone Nigam (up 0.93 per cent), ITI (up 0.66 per cent), Sterlite Technologies (up 0.65 per cent), Bharti Airtel (up 0.63 per cent) and Tata Communications (up 0.55 per cent) were also in the green around that time.

However, shares of Reliance Communications (down 2.14 per cent), Idea Cellular (down 1.22 per cent) and OnMobile Global (down 0.09 per cent) were in the red around that time.

Benchmark BSE Sensex was 13 points up at 33,574, while the NSE Nifty50 index was 8 points up at 10,350.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty50 index, 27 were trading in the green, while 23 were in the red.
