Stock market update: Mining stocks down as market falls

NEW DELHI: Mining shares closed lower in the Tuesday's session.

Lexus Granito(India)Ltd.(up 1.34%) stood among the top gainers.

Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation Ltd.(down 3.36%), 20 Microns Ltd.(down 2.71%), The Orissa Minerals Development Company Ltd.(down 2.54%), KIOCL Ltd.(down 2.33%), Oriental Trimex Ltd.(down 2.06%), Madhav Marbles & Granites Ltd.(down 2.00%), MOIL Ltd.(down 1.91%), NMDC Ltd.(down 1.43%), Coal India Ltd.(down 1.38%) and Sandur Manganese & Iron Ores Ltd.(down 1.36%) were among the top losers of the day.

The NSE Nifty50 index ended 44.3 points down at 22888.15, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed down 220.05 points at 75170.45.

Divi's Laboratories Ltd.(up 3.22%), SBI Life Insurance Company Ltd.(up 2.88%), HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd.(up 2.52%), Grasim Industries Ltd.(up 2.08%), Hero MotoCorp Ltd.(up 1.97%), Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd.(up 1.58%), Asian Paints Ltd.(up 1.36%), Wipro Ltd.(up 0.8%), Britannia Industries Ltd.(up 0.74%) and Tata Consumer Products Ltd.(up 0.71%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd.(down 2.18%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd.(down 1.62%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd.(down 1.46%), Coal India Ltd.(down 1.38%), Adani Enterprises Ltd.(down 1.37%), Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd.(down 1.21%), Tata Motors Ltd.(down 1.15%), NTPC Ltd.(down 1.15%), Tech Mahindra Ltd.(down 1.1%) and Bharti Airtel Ltd.(down 0.97%) closed in the red.
