    2020 Delhi riots: No bail for Umar Khalid

    Additional Sessions Judge in Karkardooma Court, Sameer Bajpai rejected the second regular bail plea filed by Khalid. The second bail plea was filed by Khalid after he withdrew his plea seeking bail from the Supreme Court. He has challenged the Delhi High Court decision of denying him bail in October 2022. His first regular bail plea was dismissed in March 2022, by the trail court.

    A court in Delhi rejected the regular bail plea of former AAP councillor Tahir Hussain in the alleged larger conspiracy behind the 2020 northeast Delhi riots. The court stated that the allegations against Hussain are prima facie true and that there is a bar on granting bail to him under the provisions of the UAPA. Additional Sessions Judge Sameer Bajpai dismissed the bail application after reviewing the record.
