Lightning kills four in Odisha's Ganjam
BERHAMPUR: In separate incidents across Odisha's Ganjam district, four individuals lost their lives due to lightning strikes, according to a police officer's statement on Monday. The victims were identified as Sanyashi Sahu, Lambodar Panigrahy, and Sanjay Gouda from Ganjam district, and Dugun Pradhan from Khurda district.
Sahu and Pradhan, who were selling toys in Pattapur, had sought shelter under a tree during a thunderstorm and rainfall when they were struck by lightning on Sunday."We found them unconscious and rushed them to hospital at Digapahandi, where the doctors declared them dead," said Ajay Kumar Swain, inspector in charge, Pattapur police station.
According to Sandhyarani Singh, inspector in charge of Badagarh police station, Panigrahy was struck by lightning on Sunday. He was immediately taken to Badagarh hospital, where he was pronounced dead by the doctors.
Sanjay Gouda was struck by lightning near his village on Sunday.
Upon being rushed to the sub-divisional hospital in Hinjili, he was declared dead by the doctors, as reported by Srinibash Sethi, inspector in charge of Hinjili police station.
