DERA BABA NANAK (GURDASPUR): To cater to Sikh devotees unable to visit Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Kartarpur, Pakistan, the Land Ports Authority of India (LPAI) has arranged for live-streaming the shrine's happenings at the passenger terminal building (PTB) in Dera Baba Nanak's integrated check post (ICP).
The facility is available to visitors who are allowed to the PTB, after paying an entry fee of Rs 50, between 11.30 am and 3.30 pm, said an official. This will be an alternative to 'darshan sthal', where the Border Security Force (BSF) and Gurdaspur district administration have installed binoculars, for pilgrims. LPAI manager T R Sharma on Tuesday said they had installed a pan, tilt, and zoom (PTZ) camera on the bridge for live-streaming the gurdwara building and its surroundings.
The live feed is available on TV screens installed at PTB. A second screen is dedicated to showcasing recorded religious events. "The live-streaming setup now provides a contemporary and accessible solution for those unable to visit Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Kartarpur," said Sharma. Another initiative is the opening of a grocery shop at ICP for devotees to purchase ingredients for serving langar across the border. "Earlier, they had to carry langar material from faraway, but now they can purchase items from the shop," said Sharma.
Sharma said the average daily turnout of visitors at PTB was around 250.
