Exclusive: Critical Keerthanegalu takes off from Chemistry of Kariyappa: Kumaar
Critical Keerthanegalu, releasing today, takes on the ill-effects of IPL cricket betting. Directed by Kumaar and made under the banner of Kesari Films Capture, the film has Tabla Nani, Suchendra Prasad, Apoorva Bharadwaj, Rajesh Nataranga, Apoorva Shree, Taranga Vishwa, Yash Shetty and Aruna Balraj in significant roles.
Kumaar says, “Critical Keerthanegalu, a blend of emotion and entertainment, is a continuation of Chemistry of Kariyappa.
The movie traces the journey of people and how their lives change as they get addicted to IPL betting. The story is set in four different cities of Karnataka - Bengaluru, Mangaluru, Belagavi and Mandya. We have used the local Kannada dialect to keep it real. When the situation gets out of hand, advocate Kariyappa enters the plot and files a plea in court to ban IPL betting.”
He further adds, “Advocate Kariyappa, played by Tabla Nani, wants to stop the menace of betting since even his wife is involved in it. But he fails to win the court battle. While arguing in court, he cites examples of people dying and how four families across society are going through troubled times due to the addiction. The comical touch takes audiences on a roller coaster ride. Suchendra Prasad as Jagadeesh plays a key role as the judge. Puttaraju-Mahendra and Taranga Vishwa will tickle the funny bone.”
