Amalda Liz gains eight kilos for her film
Models are usually very particular about maintaining their figures. But model-turned-actress Amalda Liz has no such qualms when it comes to perfecting her debut role.
Amalda will be seen as a strong and bold woman, Rosamma, who lived in Kochi much before it turned into a city, in Rajeev Ravi's Kammatti Padam. The movie will showcase two phases of Rosamma's life, as a 25 and a 40-year-old.
The Wayanad-based actress says, 'I had gained eight kilos to enact the 40-year-old Rosamma and have now reduced my weight and I am back in shape. The shoot of the 25-year-old Rosamma is happening now. What's more, I don't get to wear any modern costumes and will be seen in saris and nighties throughout the movie.'
A close source from the sets says, 'The movie revolves around three characters ' Krishnan, Ganga and Anitha ' played by Dulquer Salmaan, Vinayakan and Shaun Romy. Newbie Manikandan plays Balan, brother to Vinayakan. Rosamma has a pivotal part in the plot.' An excited Amalda says, 'I play Balan's wife in the movie and it's a powerful role. Rosamma is a simple girl and circumstances force her to become a strong woman.'
Though Amalda tried doing a bit of research by meeting people from the outskirts of Kochi to understand the character, she says it was not of much help as Rosamma's character 'was totally different from what I imagined.' Amalda adds that she finds it very challenging to bring out the emotional depth of the character before the camera.
The actress, who is dubbing for herself in the movie, adds, 'I did not have to bring out the Kochi slang for Rosamma, as she is not a native of the city but someone who comes to Kochi and settles down there.'
