Be it Kunjimalu, a maid who falls for her master, in her Malayalam debut Neelathamara or that of Chimitti, a bold and aggressive woman in her debut Tamil movie Aravan, actress Archana Kavi is always game for challenging roles. However, with her second outing in Kollywood, the actress seems to have pushed the envelope further. The actress says her role in
Gnana Kirukanwas the most demanding role she has played in her four-year-old career.
“I play a village belle, who comes to live on the dingy and dirty streets of Chennai. And I had to sleep near a pile of garbage on the streets,” says Archana.
To look the part was no easy either, says the actress. “My dress was covered with mud and I was exposed to all the dust on the streets. Eventually, all of it took a toll on my health and I developed chest congestion,” she says.
However, Archana says she has no regrets doing the movie. “When I was approached for the role, I liked the script and agreed to do the movie. But at that time I oblivious of how demanding my character was. Though I had a challenging role in
Aravan, shooting for
Gnana Kirukan was more strenuous. But, more than any other character I have played so far, I enjoyed working in the movie,” says Archana, who will share screen space with Daniel Balaji, Jega and Susmitha in the film.
Gnana Kirukan is based on a true story on how an individual overcomes the odds in his life.
On the Mollywood front, the actress is busy with
Shibu Prabhakar’s suspense thriller
Day and Night, in which she is paired opposite
Maqbool Salmaan and
Bhagath Manuel.
