The Malayalam film industry is facing criticism for the lack of female lead characters in blockbuster films like 'Aavesham,' 'Manjummel Boys,' and 'Bramayugam.' Actress Nikhila Vimal responds to these criticisms, emphasizing the importance of including characters only if the story demands it. Interestingly, the superhit film 'Premalu' starring Mamitha Baiju was not part of the discussion. This year started off well for the Malayalam film industry, but as always, a topic has come up for discussion, criticizing the lack of female lead characters in many blockbuster films such as 'Aavesham,' 'Manjummel Boys,' and 'Bramayugam.' Interestingly, the superhit film 'Premalu' starring Mamitha Baiju was somehow avoided in this discussion. Now, actress Nikhila Vimal has shared a thoughtful reply to these criticisms.

Speaking to Media One, addressing these criticisms, Nikhila Vimal stated, “Every film has such characters that the story demands. Not every film requires female characters, especially in films like ‘Aavesham’ or ‘Manjummel Boys’."

She further said that if such characters are unnecessarily placed, the story will diverge and affect its flow. Nikhila Vimal reiterated that it is better to avoid adding female characters unnecessarily, as this can detract from the narrative’s impact.
Nikhila Vimal concluded her remarks by asserting that characters should be included in a movie only if the story demands it. Her comments have sparked further conversation among netizens, highlighting the importance of narrative integrity over conforming to gender expectations in storytelling.
Earlier, ‘Aavesham’ director Jithu Madhavan mentioned during the film's promotions that he prefers not to include characters who do not drive the story forward.
Jithu Madhavan said that unnecessary characters can disrupt the flow of the narrative, so he focuses on those who are essential to the plot.
