Greg Shirley, carpenter, and Ronnie Hover, painter, demonstrated their outstanding craftsmanship by restoring the Naval Air Station (NAS) Meridian's Base Chapel Doors back to their splendor status! On June 18, NAS Meridian Commanding Officer Capt. Davis awarded the duo command coins to commend their efforts and numerous hours spent completing this endeavor. NAS Meridian Chaplain Lt. Summer Intern Spotlight: https://lnkd.in/dme7fHTp Luis Duran Summer intern Luis Duran joined the San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance and NAVFAC SW for a meaningful day of conservation efforts. We had the incredible opportunity to participate in the banding of endangered rails at the Living Coast before they were released at Naval Base Ventura County Pt. Mugu. Luis also assisted in the release of captive-reared snowy plovers and banded several California least tern chicks on the Silver Strand Training Complex North. Luis's dedication and hands-on involvement in these vital conservation projects highlight the impactful work our team at NAVFAC SW is doing to support wildlife and environmental sustainability.
