    ETMarkets After Hours: Q4 results lift HDFC Bank 2%; realty stocks surge

    The BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty settled in the red amid of selling on select pharma, FMCG, power, auto and IT counters. The Sensex closed the day 57 points down at 29,365, while the Nifty50 slipped 17 points to 9,119.

    Here’s a look at the stocks and sectors that hogged limelight on Friday:

    Earnings impact: Shares of HDFC Bank jumped over 2 per cent after the lender reported an 18.2 per cent growth in March quarter net profit at Rs 3,990 crore. The lender had posted a net profit of Rs 3,374 crore for the January-March quarter of 2015-16. Bad loans provisioning rose sharply during the quarter to Rs 1,261 crore from Rs 662 crore reported for the January-March period of 2015-16.

    Stock rally blocked: Shares of Max Financial Services declined as much as 5.49 per cent in Friday’s trade after 1.3 crore shares changed hands in two block deals at Rs 622-625 a share. Reuters on Thursday said that Goldman Sachs will sell shares worth up to $123 million, or up to 3.74 per cent stake, in Max Financial Services on Friday. Later the scrip closed 3.20 per cent down at Rs 629.

    Q4 loss widens: Shares of Diamond Power and Infrastructure declined over 4 per cent on Friday after the smallcap firm said losses widened to Rs 316 crore in the March quarter.

    Bitter pill: Sun Pharma closed 2.41 per cent down at Rs 640 after reports that the USFDA has issued 11 observations for its Dadra unit.

    Sectorwise: Among the sectoral indices on BSE, the Realty index climbed the most at 2.37 per cent, followed by Telecom (up 0.75 per cent), Power (up 0.28 per cent), Capital Goods (up 0.24 per cent) and Oil & Gas (up 0.17 per cent) indices.

    Fresh 52-week high: Over 130 stocks hit their fresh 52-week high on NSE in Friday’s trade. The list included Anant Raj, Bhushan Steel, Colgate Palmolive (India), Deepak Fertilizers and Petrochemicals Corporation, DLF, Escorts, Hotel Leela, ITD Cementation, India Tourism Development Corporation, InterGlobe Aviation, Hotel Leela Venutres and Nesco.

    Spurt in OI: Stock futures of Dalmia Bharat saw the biggest jump in open interest (OI) at 170 per cent. It was followed by MFSL (up 57 per cent), DLF (up 21.63 per cent) and Colgate Palmolive (up 20.85 per cent).

    Most active securities: GMR Infra emerged the most active stock in terms of traded volume on NSE on Friday. It was followed by DLF, HDIL, Bajaj Hindusthan and South Indian Bank.
