Stock market update: FMCG stocks down as market falls

NEW DELHI: FMCG shares closed lower in the Tuesday's session.

Jyothy Labs Ltd.(up 5.78%), Hatsun Agro Products Ltd.(up 5.60%), Zydus Wellness Ltd.(up 2.85%), JHS Svendgaard Laboratories Ltd.(up 1.99%), Tata Consumer Products Ltd.(up 0.96%), Adani Wilmar Ltd.(up 0.95%), Bikaji Foods International Ltd.(up 0.83%), Prataap Snacks Ltd.(up 0.66%), Heritage Foods Ltd.(up 0.58%) and LT Foods Ltd.(up 0.46%) stood among the top gainers.

Euro India Fresh Foods Ltd.(down 7.09%), Marico Ltd.(down 2.80%), Bajaj Consumer Care Ltd.(down 2.44%), Dodla Dairy Ltd.(down 2.35%), Dangee Dums Ltd.(down 2.27%), Patanjali Foods Ltd.(down 2.26%), ADF Foods Ltd.(down 2.02%), Godrej Consumer Products Ltd.(down 1.93%), Varun Beverages Ltd.(down 1.91%) and Sheetal Cool Products Ltd.(down 1.79%) were among the top losers of the day.

The NSE Nifty50 index ended 18.11 points down at 24123.85, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed down 34.74 points at 79441.45.

Larsen & Toubro Ltd.(up 2.84%), Wipro Ltd.(up 2.06%), Infosys Ltd.(up 1.91%), HDFC Bank Ltd.(up 1.49%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd.(up 0.99%), Tata Consumer Products Ltd.(up 0.96%), Coal India Ltd.(up 0.91%), HCL Technologies Ltd.(up 0.82%), Hindalco Industries Ltd.(up 0.72%) and Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd.(up 0.7%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Shriram Finance Ltd.(down 3.4%), Bharti Airtel Ltd.(down 2.42%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd.(down 2.13%), Tata Motors Ltd.(down 2.08%), IndusInd Bank Ltd.(down 1.89%), State Bank of India(down 1.88%), HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd.(down 1.83%), ICICI Bank Ltd.(down 1.76%), Bajaj Finance Ltd.(down 1.53%) and Bajaj Auto Ltd.(down 1.38%) closed in the red.
