Stock market update: Nifty IT index falls 0.21% in a weak market

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index traded negative around 11:00AM(IST)on Tuesday in a weak market.

MPhasis(up 0.91 per cent) and Tata Consultancy(up 0.12 per cent) were among the top gainers.

Persistent Systems(down 1.39 per cent), L&T Technology(down 1.15 per cent), Tech Mahindra(down 1.01 per cent), Coforge(down 0.69 per cent) and HCL Technologies(down 0.45 per cent) were the top losers on the index.

The Nifty IT index was down 0.21 per cent at 29781.15 at the time of writing this report.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 1.3 points at 19671.05, while the BSE Sensex was down 16.73 points at 66368.05.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 26 were trading in the green, while 24 were in the red.

Shares of Suzlon Energy, SJVN, Reliance Power, YES Bank and Tata Steel were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Kriti Nutrients, Igarashi Motors, A G Universal, 5Paisa Capital and Thangamayil Jew hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Global Pet Industrie, Zee Learn, Synoptics Technologi, Vinny Overseas and Jalan Transolutions hit fresh 52-week lows in trade.
