Stock market update: Power stocks up as market falls

NEW DELHI: Power shares closed lower in the Tuesday's session.

Indowind Energy Ltd.(up 9.98%), NLC India Ltd.(up 5.53%), Karma Energy Ltd.(up 5.00%), Indo Tech Transformers Ltd.(up 5.00%), Transformers & Rectifiers(India)Ltd.(up 4.99%), Kalpataru Projects International Ltd.(up 3.66%), Orient Green Power Company Ltd.(up 3.53%), Hitachi Energy India Ltd.(up 2.94%), Adani Energy Solutions Ltd.(up 2.56%) and Inox Wind Energy Ltd.(up 2.35%) stood among the top gainers.

JSW Energy Ltd.(down 2.63%), Gujarat Industries Power Company Ltd.(down 2.13%), Power and Instrumentation(Gujarat)Ltd.(down 2.01%), CESC Ltd.(down 1.78%), RattanIndia Power Ltd.(down 1.49%), Jyoti Structures Ltd.(down 1.25%), NHPC Ltd.(down 1.10%), KPI Green Energy Ltd.(down 1.09%), Voltamp Transformers Ltd.(down 1.08%) and Reliance Power Ltd.(down 0.97%) were among the top losers of the day.

The NSE Nifty50 index ended 18.11 points down at 24123.85, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed down 34.74 points at 79441.45.

Larsen & Toubro Ltd.(up 2.84%), Wipro Ltd.(up 2.06%), Infosys Ltd.(up 1.91%), HDFC Bank Ltd.(up 1.49%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd.(up 0.99%), Tata Consumer Products Ltd.(up 0.96%), Coal India Ltd.(up 0.91%), HCL Technologies Ltd.(up 0.82%), Hindalco Industries Ltd.(up 0.72%) and Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd.(up 0.7%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Shriram Finance Ltd.(down 3.4%), Bharti Airtel Ltd.(down 2.42%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd.(down 2.13%), Tata Motors Ltd.(down 2.08%), IndusInd Bank Ltd.(down 1.89%), State Bank of India(down 1.88%), HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd.(down 1.83%), ICICI Bank Ltd.(down 1.76%), Bajaj Finance Ltd.(down 1.53%) and Bajaj Auto Ltd.(down 1.38%) closed in the red.
