Earlier this month, on the sidelines of the Pulsar NS400Z launch event, Rajiv Bajaj, MD, Bajaj Auto, revealed that the company will be launching its much-anticipated CNG motorcycle on Jun 18, 2024. As the launch date comes closer, the company has filed a trademark application for the name ‘Fighter’, giving rise to speculation that the world’s first CNG motorcycle will carry this nameplate.
At present, the status of the application says ‘Formalities check passed.’
However, it's important to note that filing a trademark doesn't necessarily mean the name will be used right away. Manufacturers often file trademarks to reserve names for potential future products.
Bajaj’s first-ever CNG motorcycle: What we know so far
Bajaj has been long working on introducing the world’s first CNG-powered motorcycle, aiming to cater to cost-conscious customers amidst rising fuel prices.
While specific details about the new model remain under wraps, the motorcycle has been spotted testing several times over the past few months. The test mule, resembling a typical commuter bike, features halogen turn indicators, telescopic forks, and a monoshock unit for suspension duties. It also boasts multi-spoke alloy wheels, a long single-piece seat, and a combination of disc and drum brakes, suggesting it is aimed at the
entry-level budget segment. It is not known what engine this bike will use. Bajaj may modify an existing petrol engine or develop a new powertrain for CNG usage.
