PANCHKULA: Diarrhoea outbreak has claimed lives of three children so far at Budhanpur village.
The village, which is part of Sector 16 Panchkula, has reported 406 cases of diarrhoea over the past 10 days.
Bhairav, a one-and-a-half-year-old child of Budhanpur, succumbed to his illness on Sunday morning at the General Hospital in Sector 6, after battling vomiting and diarrhoea for several days.The child was admitted to the hospital for treatment on Saturday and was under emergency care throughout the night but he passed away a merely eight hours later.
The outbreak had first claimed the life of 4-month-old Simran six days back, although the department attributed her untimely demise to malnutrition. The second fatality took place on May 31, when three-and-a-half-year-old Mahira succumbed to her illness, after exhibiting symptoms of vomiting and diarrhoea.
Pawan Kumar and Sita Devi, residents of Budhanpur, said their son, Bhairav, was admitted to Sector 6-based civil hospital at 6 pm on Saturday who was down with vomiting and diarrhoea.
Chief medical officer of Panchkula civil hospital Dr Mukta Kumar said so far, 26 water samples have been sent by the health department for testing. Out of these, 12 samples have failed the test. This information has been shared with HSVP after the drinking water test report failed in Budhanpur.
