REWARI: Three police personnel, including a sub-inspector, have been charged with assaulting a man and a woman inside a police station in July, this year, police said.
The case was initiated following a complaint by a 22-year-old woman who also accused the sub-inspector of molestation.
Upon receiving the complaint, additional superintendent of police (ASP) Dhaarna Yadav was assigned to conduct an investigation into the matter.
Based on the ASP's report, a case has been registered against sub-inspector Lekhram, woman head constable Premlata, and special police officer (SPO) Surat Singh. The charges include sections 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 342 (wrongful confinement), 323 (causing hurt), and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code at the Dharuhera police station.
According to the complainant's account, a man known to her had summoned her to the police station on July 12 at the request of the sub-inspector, who wished to question her. Upon arriving at the police station, she discovered that the man's wife was also present. Allegedly, the sub-inspector subjected her to verbal abuse and made derogatory comments related to her caste.
The complainant further detailed that the sub-inspector accused her of disrupting the man's marital life. Her protest against these allegations reportedly led to the sub-inspector summoning three female police officers, who proceeded to physically assault her. Additionally, she accused the sub-inspector of molestation.

The complainant also alleged that the sub-inspector coerced her into tying a 'rakhi' on the man's wrist.
Subsequently, during the course of the investigation, it was uncovered that the man had also been subjected to physical assault while inside the police station.
