Kerala: Thrikkakara hotel shut down for unhygienic conditions after food poisoning cases
KOCHI: Authorities in Thrikkakara municipality on Sunday shut down a hotel on the Seaport - Airport road in Kakkanad due to unsanitary conditions.
Health officials from the local body inspected Aryaas hotel and discovered accumulated wastewater behind the premises, emitting a foul odor. The hotel has been fined Rs 50,000 and instructed to address the issues by November 22.
Ernakulam RTO Ananthakrishnan and his son experienced food poisoning after consuming food from this hotel a week ago."The duo had food from this hotel a week ago and suffered food poisoning. Since they have not filed any complaint with the local body, we also came to know about it recently. It is suspected that they suffered food poisoning from chutney," stated health standing committee chairman Unni Kakkanad.
Last month, a young person died of suspected food poisoning after consuming shawarma from another hotel in Thrikkakara.
