VARANASI: A 20-year-old man axed his parents and minor sister to death in Uttar Pradesh’s Azamgarh.
The incident came to light when the bodies of Bhanu Pratap Singh (48), his wife Sunita Singh, and their daughter Rashi Singh (13) were found lying in a pool of blood in their house on the outskirts of Dhandhari village on Sunday morning.
Azamgarh SP Anurag Arya said that based on the findings of the police's initial investigation, it was found that Rajan had killed his parents and sister after attacking them with an axe and fled the scene.
Two teams under ASP (rural) have been formed to look into the case in order to determine the motive behind the killings, and three teams have been set up to apprehend Rajan, he said.
He said the bodies had been sent for postmortem.
On the complaint of Bhanu’s brother Bhupati Singh an FIR was lodged against Rajan in the case.
During the investigation, Bhupati and the locals told the police that Bhanu had built a new home alongside the road leading to Dhandhari village and had moved his wife, son, and two daughters there. Rani Singh, Bhanu's only child, had gone to visit her relatives there. Rajan's father yelled at him on Saturday night. It is believed that he brutally murdered his parents and sister because he was upset about it.

Villagers did not observe a resident of Bhanu's home until late morning despite the doors being opened as they travelled along Dhandhari Road. Bhanu, Sunita, and Rashi's bodies were found on their beds, their bodies lying in a pool of blood, when they searched the house for the cause of it. They then sounded an alarm and called the police.
Akhilesh Kumar, IG of Azamgarh range, Arya, and other officials arrived at the scene after receiving information, along with Kaptanganj police.
Following a preliminary investigation, the bodies were sent for postmortem examination. Forensic experts and a dog squad were also called to the scene.
