By the time Avatar 5 is released in 2031, Zoe Saldana will be 53 and James Cameron will be 76

The release date for the next Avatar movie has been pushed further back as a result of several delays, including the Hollywood writers' strike, which has caused big delays for other projects too. Another factor that has caused the film's release date to be postponed by a whole year is the requirement for extremely intricate and dramatic CGI.

As various delays including the writers’ strike in Hollywood pushes back various films, the schedule for the next Avatar film has also been pushed back. The film also needs very complex and intense CGI, another reason that has pushed back the film by one whole year.
Zoe Saldana who has been playing the feisty alien character, Neytiri recently took to her Instagram to post this one line: “Great! I’m gonna be 53 when the last ‘Avatar’ comes out.” She has been playing the character since she was 27 years old and the last of the Avatar films has been slated for 2031.

Avatar 3 will now be released only in December 2025. Its original release date had been given by James Cameron as December 2024. Producer of the films, John Landau had already taken to twitter to announce the delay in the next instalment. He had said: “Each ‘Avatar’ film is an exciting but epic undertaking that takes time to bring to the quality level we as filmmakers strive for and audiences have come to expect…”
By the time Avatar 5 comes out, the cast and crew is going to be decidedly older, with Cameron touching 76, and Sam Worthington being aged 54. Sigourney Weaver will be 81 by then.
