Leopard mauls 4year-old to death in J&K’s Udhampur

JAMMU: Panic prevailed in a remote village in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district after a four-year-old girl was mauled to death by a leopard in Narore area on Saturday evening.
The girl’s father, Ganesh Kumar, said his daughter had stepped outside the house around 7pm to dispose of dirty water when she was dragged away by a leopard. The Wildlife Protection Department was immediately informed, following which a team rushed to the spot and launched a search operation to trace the child.
“The girl’s half-eaten body was recovered from the nearby forest, around 2km from her residence, early Sunday,” said a police source, adding: “The wildlife protection department had set up traps at different places in the forest to capture the animal”.
