Breaking: Bengali TV shows to resume shoots from June 10
For those who are avid TV watchers, here’s some good news! After a break of over two months, the freshly minted episodes of Bengali megaserials will be back on your television soon. Shoots of serials will commence from June 10, as decided at the meeting with Aroop Biswas on Thursday. The fresh episodes will be telecast from June 15.
Confirming the news, director Leena Gangopadhyay said that shoots of all four of her serials will start at three studios in the city on June 10.“Sreemoyee and Mohar will start at Dasani, Nokshi Kantha at Movie Tone and Jion Kathi at Technician’s Studio. Not just ours, all other productions will start on the same day. I was not present at the meeting but this is what I gathered,” she told us.
President of EIMPPA Piya Sengupta, who was there at the meeting, said, “Our meeting with Aroop Biswas resolved most of the issues regarding shoots of serials. We have another meeting on June 7, at 5 pm, where we will discuss about film shootings.”
Meanwhile, stakeholders of the industry welcomed the move. Director- producer Shiboprosad Mukherjee said,
It is a positive move for sure. Issues regarding film shoots are yet to be discussed with the government before they go on the floors. There will be a meeting with the studio owners and representatives of Artists Forum tomorrow, where few issues will be resolves.”
Meanwhile, Arindam Ganguly, secretary, Motion Picture Artists Forum, said, “Some very crucial decisions were taken at the meeting. We have spoken about health insurance and our forum will be providing 10% of it along with the producers and channels.”
Important decisions taken at today’s meeting:

·If any artiste falls sick while shooting, the government will take responsibility of his/her treatment.
·If there is any unfortunate death due to COVID-19 while shooting, there will be a health insurance of Rs 25 lakh. While 10% of it will be taken care of by the forum and 40% by the producer, the rest 50% will be borne by the channel.

·A total of 12 artistes to be on the floors every day, with a ceiling of six artistes at a time in a shift. The makeup room will be sanitised after every break.
·There will be two people in the makeup room at a time. All artistes have to carry his or her own makeup kit from home. Makeup artists, hair dressers and people who are doing costumes have to wear PPE kits.
·Costumes should be brought by the artists. But if the dresser provides it, it should be in two sets, so that one can be washed while the other is in use.
·There will be no intimate scenes. If required, such scenes will be recreated in post-production.
·Children below 10 years and actors above 65 years, along with pregnant woman, should be avoided on shooting floors now.
·All shooting floors, makeup rooms, props to be sanitised before June 10.
