Rupanjana Mitra is set to come back on the big screen after her marriage with her long-time partner and filmmaker Ratool Mukherjee. The ‘Bonbibi’ famed actress who has been working both on the big screen and television is turning cop for her next release ‘Kaliachak: Chapter 1’. The trailer of the much anticipated film is out now.

The heinous massacre of Kaliachak in Malda had sent shockwaves throughout Bengal.
A young boy named Mohammad Asif had cold-bloodedly murdered four members of his own family. Later, the police discovered the decomposed bodies of the victims. Yet, despite committing such a gruesome act, there wasn't a hint of remorse in the young man. This chilling incident from Kaliachak is now set to make its way to the big screen. 'Kaliachak: Chapter 1', inspired from those true events, is directed by Ratool Mukherjee, and produced by Aseem Akhtar, who will also play the central role of Asif.
The cast includes prominent names such as Rupanjana Mitra, Deboprasad Halder, Partha Sarathi, director Ratul Mukherjee himself, and Debopratim Dasgupta. In addition, many locals from the Malda district have been part of the movie. The music for the film is scored by Vicky Singh, with lyrics by Tapas Sarkar and Sayantan. The film is due for a theatrical release on June 14.

On the personal front, Rupanjana and Ratool tied the knot in April. They took their wedding vows in a traditional Bengali wedding ceremony. Rupanjana’s son Rian was part of all the rituals and celebrations. After a month of their wedding, the couple recently flew out of town for their honeymoon. Rian joined in the holiday for his summer vacation. The family vacationed in Kashmir and posted a bunch of photos on social platforms.
