Rahul Deshpande lodges complaint against online scam in his name

Many of Rahul Deshpande’s fans were surprised when the singer contacted them via Telegram asking for their bank details so he could send them expensive gifts. Only, it wasn’t actually Rahul, but an imposter trying to scam people.
Speaking to us, Rahul, who is not even on Telegram, said, “I got to know about this entire scam when people started messaging me.The person had kept my display picture and strategically contacted people who regularly comment on my social media posts. Unfortunately, a few did send money to the fraudster, but those who were vigilant, refrained from doing so.”

Taking cognizance of the same, the Me Vasantrao actor took to his Instagram page to caution his fans, asking them to not fall prey to such scams. Rahul informed us that he has filed an official complaint with the city’s cyber crime department too. “I have submitted all the proof that I received from the people who interacted with the scammer,” he said.

He added, "A few months ago, my YouTube channel was hacked, and now this incident has also shocked me. We all need to be aware about these scams and must report them so that relevant action can be taken by the police."
