'House of the Dragon' episode 9, the penultimate instalment before the highly anticipated season finale, saw major twists in this battle for the iron throne.
Besides showing a clear divide between the Hightowers and the Targaryens, the episode also showed some cracks beginning to form between the brothers Aegon and Aemond played by Tom Glynn-Carney and Ewan Mitchell.

Commenting on the fight scene between the brothers, director Claire Kilner says, "When Aegon and Aemond have that fight, we really wanted to make it into a, like a sibling hatred. Tom really dug deep and wanted to create this really tormented character versus Aemond who is tormented but he keeps it all hidden and under the surface."
Sharing his thoughts about the reason behind the rivalry developing his character and Aemond in the Disney+ Hotstar show, Tom Glynn-Carney said, "There's a lot of bitterness from Aemond’s side, he’s built to be the King, he wants the responsibility, he thinks he’d be good at it and Aegon, being the elder son, it falls to him to do it."

With bitter rivalries, deep-seated jealousies and a quest for power at an all-time high, the show will come to a close with an epic season finale on Monday. Fans will then have a long two-year wait until they are taken back to the halls of the iron throne in 2024.
Set 200 years before the events that captivated global audiences in Game of Thrones, 'House of the Dragon' is an independent series that takes us deep into the extraordinary world of Westeros and explores the Targaryen family and their dragons. Featuring Paddy Considine, Matt Smith, Milly Alcock, Olivia Cooke, Emma D'Arcy, Steve Toussaint, Eve Best, Sonoya Mizuno, Fabien Frankel, and Rhys Ifans, the show has been directed by Clare Kilner, Greg Yaitanes and Geeta Vasant Patel.
