Child Support Office
For specific questions about your child support case, you should contact Child Support Services of Nebraska (402) 633-4100 or send any correspondence to P.O. Box 407, Boystown, NE 68010. The toll-free number is 1-877-631-9973, and their website for general information is https://dhhs.ne.gov/Pages/child-support.aspx.The Child Support Office is able to answer questions about your court case, payment information, obtaining genetic testing, etc. The District Court Referee’s office CAN NOT answer these questions for you.
Types of Child Support Cases
- Establishment of Child Support
- You may request that Child Support Services file to establish paternity and child support, or solely child support if paternity has been established. Information about these services can be found at https://dhhs.ne.gov/Pages/child-support.aspx
- You may also file your own child support case without the assistance of the State of Nebraska. The Nebraska Supreme Court has created a guide for self-represented litigants, which can be found here: https://supremecourt.nebraska.gov/self-help/families-children/establishing-paternity-custody-parenting-time-child-support Please note these forms include the establishment of custody and/or parenting time and may need to be altered if you are seeking child support only.
- Modification of Child Support
- You may request that Child Support Services review your Nebraska child support case to determine if a modification of your child support case is warranted. To request a review and modification, contact Child Support Services by either calling 1-877-631-9973 or visit http://dhhs.ne.gov/Pages/Child-Support-Review-and-Modification.aspx for further information and instructions. Please note that requesting the State to modify your support obligation can take up to six months or more to process.
- You may also file for a modification of your child support case without the assistance of an attorney. Further information and instruction on this process is available at https://supremecourt.nebraska.gov/self-help/families-children/modification-child-support
