In 2018, Podem Veeraiah of the Indian National Congress won the seat by defeating Tellam Venkata Rao of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi with a margin of 11785 votes. Veeraiah received 47,746 votes whereas Venkata Rao received 35,961 votes. 10 candidates contested from this constituency in 2018.
In 2014, Sunnam Rajaiah of CPM defeated K.p.r.k. Phaneeswaramma by 1,815 votes after he secured 57,750 votes. In 2009, Kunja Satyavathi of INC defeated Sunnam Rajaiah of CPM by a margin of 6,383 votes after he received 51,466 votes.
