Nirmal district is located in northern Telangana bordering Maharashtra.
In the 2018 assembly elections, Allola Indrakaran Reddy of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), now Bhartiya Rashtra Samithi (BRS) was re-elected with 46.21% votes.
He won against Alleti Maheshwar Reddy of the Indian National Congress, who fell short by 9,271 or 5.40% votes.
Allola Indrakaran Reddy currently serves as the Minister for Forests and Environment and Science and Technology, Endowments and Law in the Telangana government.
The female voter turnout was higher than that of male with 95,348 and 76,315 respectively.
In the first Telangana legislative assembly elections that took place in 2014, he became the Minister for Housing, Law and Endowments in the government of Telangana.
Around 50% of the popultion is male and the other half, female. With a rural population of 79%, the district has a literacy rate of 58%.
The district is etched out of the former Adilabad District and is known for its myriad art forms namely, Bindu Yakshaganam, Bagavatham, Pandavulu, Yellamma Katha, Sharada Kathalu, Kolatam and Jada Koppulu.
The 2023 assembly elections in Telangana will be held on November 30. The votes would be counted on December 3.
