Mahabubabad is a state Assembly/Vidhan Sabha constituency in the state of Telangana and is part of Mahabubabad Lok Sabha/Parliamentary constituency. Mahabubabad falls in Mahabubabad district and North Telangana region of Telangana. It is categorised as a rural seat.
There are a total of 1,96,178 voters in the seat, which includes 98,126 male voters, and 98,029 female voters.
In the 2018 Telangana elections, Mahabubabad recorded a voter turnout of 84.83%. In 2014 the turnout was 80.77%.
During the 2018 elections, TRS candidate Banoth Shankar Naik won the seat and defeated Balaram Naik Porika of the Indian National Congress (INC). The TRS leader registered a victory by a margin of 13,534 votes.
During the 2014 assembly elections, TRS candidate Banoth Shankar Nayak registered victory by a margin of 9,315 votes and defeated the INC candidate Kavitha Malothu. While Banoth Shankar Nayak got a total of 78,370 votes, Kavitha Malothu secured 69,055 votes.
According to the dates, the polls in Telangana will be held in one phase on November 30 and the results will be announced on December 3.
