Mancherial is situated in the Mancherial district of the North Telangana region and is a part of the Peddapalle Lok Sabha constituency.
According to the 2011 Census, around 40.85% of the total population in Mancherial is classified as rural, while approximately 59.16% resides in urban areas.
In terms of electoral participation, Mancherial boasts a total of 1,97,219 voters. The 2018 Telangana elections witnessed a voter turnout of 73.17%, a notable increase from the 2014 turnout of 64.76%.
In the 2018 elections, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) emerged victorious as Nadipelli Diwakar Rao secured a second consecutive win. TRS’s Diwakar Rao garnered 75,360 votes, constituting 45% of the total votes, defeating Kokkirala Premsagar Rao from the Indian National Congress (INC) by a margin of 4,848 votes. The INC candidate secured 42% of the total votes with 70,512 votes, while the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) Raghunath Verabelli trailed behind in the third position with a mere 3.00% of the votes.
Notably, the 2018 victory marked Nadipelli Diwakar Rao's second consecutive win, as he had previously triumphed in the 2014 elections. In 2014, Diwakar Rao secured the seat with a substantial margin of 59,250 votes (38.36%) and commanded 61.62% of the total votes polled.
The incumbent, two-time winner Nadipelli Diwakar Rao, representing TRS, will compete against Verabelli Raghunath of the BJP and Kokkirala Prem Sagar Rao from the INC in the upcoming assembly elections in the state.
